Player Ratings: Charlton Vs Arsenal

Player Ratings: Charlton Vs Arsenal

Jens: Had a decent game. Flapped at a couple of corners but made a brilliant save to deny Reid. 7

Hoyte: Does not look comfortable at the left back position. Why won’t Wenger play Flamini ? 6

Kolo: Once again a tower of strength at the back. Was troubled by Hasselbaink though. 6

Gallas: Definitely not 100% fitness wise. Looked off the pace. Hopefully he can shake it off in the next two weeks. 6

Eboue: Another impressive game at the back for the Ivorian. His cross to Van Persie made it 3 assists in 3 games. Good Stuff ! 7

Ljungberg: Another disappointing game for the Swede. Worked his socks off as usual with no real end product. 6

Cesc: Not his best game for the club but he looked lively. Should have scored off Henry’s lob. Needs a rest. 7

Gilberto: Did what he always does and kept it neat and tidy, shielding the back four. Looks to be developing an understanding with Cesc 7

Hleb: Great game, ran his socks off. Had a say in both goals. Has looked very impressive this season. Is starting to look like the player we bought from Stuttgart. 8

Henry: Had a quiet game by his standards. Always look dangerous with the ball, brilliant nutmeg to get Hleb the ball, who made the assist for RvP. 7

Van Persie
: 2 goals, including an absolute peach. Missed an easy opportunity later in the second half. 8

Man of the Match: Hleb

Do you not read or listen to Wenger's press conference? He has said that Flamini has refused to play left back. Where you even at the game? Hoyte has been good the last two games, get behind the lad and help to make sure there is an Englishman in the team.

Flamini says he feels uncomfotable playing there. He did however, do an awesome job last year. Hoyte is NOT a left back. He CANNOT use his left foot. Flamini is out new "grimandi" he is being paid to play football. Not choose his positions.

i agree Hoyte is not good enough, at least in the left back position. We cannot deploy him in the LB for the sake of wanting a English player in our team. But seems we do not have a choice now until Clichy recover.

Hleb has been playing like the guy we bought from Stuttgart since March last year. The guy it seems has to out-do himself every week to stay in gooners good books.

Henry played great. Wasn't quiet at all.

Overall a vg result for us. I mean not just a win but in terms of building momentum. My views, humbly proposed:-

- Eboue: Making a definite step forward, 3 great crosses, 3 goals in last 3 games. He's so hard to stop when going forward that he's on the road to greatness, nowhere near there yet obviously, but on the right road. Has to improve concentration and defensive awareness. But a big plus so far this season.

- Van P: Can't add much to the opinions well articulated elsewhere. When he adds composure to all his other strengths, and I'm sure AW is working on this, we have a world class striker.

- Hleb: I've doubted his effectiveness previously but not after this display. If he continues to play like this he will become one of the first names on the teamsheet.

- Gilberto: I'm a big critic but he has had a good start to the season. What will he be like at Bolton/Blackburn in the winter ?

- Henry: Still only at 80%. Pity we made him captain. But world class clearly.

- Flamini: He needs some good advice. Is a great utility player - but why is he whingeing about playing LB ?

- Central defence: Though by no means faultless at Charlton, Kole and Gallas have to offer the best potential CB partnership in the P League. Strong, quick, mobile, aware, experienced, composed - they will get so good when the understanding builds in the back 4.

Roll on the next game, sod the internationals.

Flamini just needs to buck up and play left-back, where he did so admirably last year. Whenever Hoyte plays its like we are playing with a crutch...the guy has one foot. It doesn't matter that he's English, we aren't required to play an Englishman in the side. Flamini needs to realize he is a utility player at Arsenal, therefore he plays wherever he is needed. If Hoyte was acting in the best interests of the team he would do just as Flamini did and tell Wenger he is not comfortable on the left, because he obviously isnt, and then Flamini would be forced to play.
